The 2015  Wimbledon Championships is a tennis tournament which will take place at the all England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon London United Kingdom this week. Novak Djokovic of Serbia is the defending champion in men’s singles and Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic is the defending champion in women’s singles.

The last time I was at Wimbledon for the Championships I wore this all white Versace ensemble as I wanted to keep with in the strict traditions of Wimbledon I found so fascinating. I love fashion rules that challenge creativity. During my time there I was impressed with not only the dress code but the decorum of the whole experience. The tennis matches are held on grass courts and the main court has a dome that is programmed to close at the first hint of rain with in minutes. Thus keeping the crowd and players dry.Given the inclement weather in England this is  a very clear necessity.

Wimbledon is the world’s oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament, known for its formal traditions, such as its’ almost-entirely-white clothing dress code for what they consider suitable tennis attire. As a result of this the best tennis fashion stories have been always about shape rather than color. That being said the ball girls and ball boys  uniforms have been  designed by  Ralph Lauren for the past 10 years. I found them to be smart, preppy and very English. Everything seeming so right for a Wimbledon sporting event that is tied up with ideas of decorum and rules.

For the duration of the matches we rented a cottage across the street from the courts. In between breaks we had traditional English tea  served in an English garden. There was also a reception hosted by Stan Smith who won the mens’ single at Wimbledon in 1976. John McEnroe was the guest of honor. I got to meet him and discuss how the event had changed over the years.

This Versace silk white blouse is embellished with chain details in keeping  with the house’s penchant for mixed media design. The skirt is of a substantial weight due to multiple strands of chains attached in  front. This Versace ensemble  was an excellent choice for the event and time .
