As the fashion – wunderkind emeritus Marc Jacobs  doubles down on his own label post Louis Vuitton let’s review his resume.

1984 Graduates from Parsons  School of design as designer of the year

1986 Shows his first Marc Jacobs collection. Marc’s opt art love started early.

1988 Jacobs is hired by Perry Ellis. Jacobs had sent his first collection to Kurt Cobain and  Courtney love. They burned it.

1993 Jacobs an business partner Robert Duffy are fired from Perry Ellis. Following the famous Grunge collection.

1994 Returns to his own label with Duffy and in his first collection Linda Evangelista walks for free.

1997 Is named creative director of Louis Vuitton in the fever of the late 90’s it bag madness none got shoppers as hot as the Stephen Sprouse speedy. This was relaunched  by Jacobs in limited addition again in 2009. They had a launch party at the fifth avenue Louis Vuitton store- to which I was invited to and was able to snag a Sprouse carry all bag.

2000 Debuts the younger  cooler, cheaper Marc by Marc Jacobs

2001 Launches first fragrance

2010 A buff and heavily tattooed Marc Jacobs models in his own fragrance advertisements

2013 His last show for Louis Vuitton and acting debut ( the forgettable disconnect): launches Marc Jacobs beauty.

2015 Marc by Marc Jacobs closes. Grunge has never been far from Jacob’s mind or runway. He launches is 18th fragrance, Decadence. Fronted by Adriana Lima.

So what is next on the horizon for this  wunderkind? Rumors are flying that his and Duffy’s company( partly owned by LVMH) will go public

This is a trench coat from a  Marc Jacobs  runway show in which the first look was shown last and the last look shown first. This was done to place emphasis on the clothes that were deconstructed.  Very much like this trench with out sleeves worn as a dress and the  Marc Jacobs heel- less shoes.
