I love to travel, and I do quite a lot of it through out the year. Particularly to Paris and London. I go for Holidays to Hawaii , Bermuda and the Grand Cayman Island. But I do not just travel there because They are pretty places. I go more for the cultural experience. So  I guess I am  a pretty  mobile person. For short trips, like New York to Los Angeles , I try to make it only carry-on  luggage. If the trip is going to last more than three days, I may have to do check -in-luggage . This is because I will need shoes, bags and clothing options for parties and dinners. On holiday, I definitely  try to keep it one case and light . I never take more than I can carry. I will pack a few extra changes if I am going to be on the beach everyday, and definitely some night time options. I always leave extra room because I know  I will bring lots of new things home with me. If all I am checking in is one case. I will pack the shoes on the bottom, then layer according to weight , with the lighter, delicate things on top. I will stuff any electrical cords and books on the sides or in pockets. Any dressier dresses or nicer things will go in either carry on cases or hanger bags.
