“If you wear things you adore, you just look better” Margherita Missoni. If you look at any of your style icons you will notice they all have a signature style one that is consistent and sets them apart . You can achieve these same style goals by just following some simple mantras.

Know your body, I am fortunate in that many designers design for my body type. If that is not the case with you look to a fashion icon who shares your body type and emulate their  style. This is a good direction to go  in that most of the guess work has been done. Also the ensemble  they are photographed or filmed in  has been tested in these mediums . I tend to cut out looks from magazines of pieces I have purchased  or save pictures of outfits on   icons I follow as inspiration .

How much confidence does your dress style give you ? I am an emotional shopper when it comes to my clothes. I will fall in love with an item and just have to have it. If you love an item chances are you will want to wear it often and it will make you feel confident.

Uniqueness will make you stand out. Besides having an emotional connection with an item I  tend to pick pieces that are unique and complex to challenge my styling direction and elevate the look. Because most of my choices are well thought out and tasteful they come together organically. You can match this style or just pick one item and  place focus on it only.

Take these Dolce & Gabbana high waist shorts in black. The silhouette is flattering to my figure. The material is such that it can be styled both casual and formal.  Dual looks are  achieved by pairing it with the leopard print Alexander McQueen  blouse or the White collarless Zara blouse . This ensemble is made all the more unique by the addition of the Dolce & Gabbana  crown.
