Your day off should be about comfort, but again, comfort doesn’t equal sloppy. A day off from work or from other formal situations doesn’t mean a day off from style.
I’m the biggest champion of being comfortable in clothes, and I don’t just mean psychologically. Comfort has to come physically, too. But somewhere along the line, in our casualization of dress codes, the message has gotten totally twisted. Rich or poor famous or not, too much of the world seems to think it’s perfectly acceptable, even cool, to look rumpled and raggedy. Even worse, there’s a prevailing mis conception that it is somehow easier than looking sharp.
Those who know me know I live in heels. On my day off, my flip-flops are platforms such as these gold Versace sandals, and the two Giuseppe Zanotti platforms.
That said ,I realize sneakers, along with jeans, are an integral and inevitable staple of modern dressing. I also have to admit there are some pretty cool sneakers out there now. Many design houses such as Chanel and Stella McCartney for Puma have come out with styles that incorporate tweeds, metallics and other unconventional materials. Like this pair of Chanel creepers in pink velvet.
The key is to go with a fashion -forward pair of sneakers , keep them clean, and don’t make a habit of them. On your day off, there are perfectly gorgeous choices in a flat or sandal. And some are made with all the comfort and support of a sneaker, making them a much nicer alternative.
