Couture isn’t necessarily in the cards for the majority of us, but pushing the envelope in terms of hair and makeup and accessories is possible.

During the runway season’s presentations , even more than all the newly rendered silhouettes ,the oh-so important proclamations of long or short, second skin tight or voluminous, the choice in accessories are a pointed keynote to  a designers’s fashion state of the union.

That’s because even more than clothes, accessories allow you to nurture your inner fashion Chameleon. There is nothing fun, interesting ,or glamorous in playing it subtle. Don’t be afraid of statement pieces. When it comes to styling yourself always aim for something that elicits a second look. The couture shows have the wow factor you need to do this.

For the Valentino Couture show held in Rome’s Piazza Mignanelli there were several elements for inspiration. The creations stayed true to the show’s” Mirabilia Romae” theme, as models’ strands of hair were twisted around ornate gold crowns. There were middle parts, half – up braids and headband accessories that have been  seen at one point or another on the Valentino runway. The ornate gold crowns at the Couture show  were reminiscent of the coveted tiaras crafted for Valentino Spring collection .

One can get a hint of these trends by borrowing key elements and in cooperating hairstyles and makeup to achieve the feel and direction of the Couture shows. Here the emphasis is on the head with the jeweled enamel Dolce & Gabbana crown tied on top of the head with the hair pulled back and held low on the back. The eyes are immediately drawn to this statement piece made to elevate any outfit.
