Who are you wearing ?

When I sit down and think about a days look, I determine what  style I would love to borrow elements from and why. It can be as clear as channeling Brigitte Bardot   to a Twiggy. Or could be based on a head to toe designer look.

One of my personal modern day favorites is Kate Moss. I love how she can look effortlessly chic no matter what she wears, how she can mix something worth $5 with a $5,000 item. I share the same MO as well. With Kate Moss it’s as much about her image as it is her attitude and approach to fashion.

Who inspires you ?  I collect images of my favorite icons from fashion, film and history. These looks include accessories, interiors ,even stuff I might like just because of the color, shape or idea of it. I tear pages out of magazines and copy them out of books. I do what ever it takes to build up an inspiration  file. You should as well.

However when styling a look you do not want to  impersonate a fashion icon or perfectly copy a trend. You only require a hint of the style or a suggestion. Trying to be a replica of someone else never works. I play with my inspiration but do it my way and you should too.

You can be yourself, Don’t copy, but do draw inspiration ,interpret it. Otherwise you risk being a fashion victim instead of someone with great personal style.

I always strive for one element of dramatic flair such as this gold Roberto Cavalli Jacket. Which brings something special  to the overall look and can be built upon  with the Zara  sequins pants .
