For ten days each August, connoisseurs and enthusiasts from around the world converge on the Monterey Peninsula to celebrate the ultimate in automotive design, engineering and camaraderie among fellow aficionados.

The Quail motor sports gathering is the place to be during Monterey car week. It is an opportunity to get up close to some immaculately restored, classic sports cars. Beyond just a chance to show perfect examples of classic machines, the Quail offers perhaps the only opportunity for many to look at some modern super cars on display.

Since its inception, it has combined a lush setting on a golf course nestled against the Santa Lucia mountain range with exceptional cuisine and the finest examples of vintage sporting automobiles seen during the week. Sponsors provide today’s cream-of -the crop luxury cars to be sampled by guests on the local roads. Being hosted by Rolls Royce I had the opportunity to drive the Ghost Rolls Royce car myself on the local roads.

This was a chance to enjoy rare collections of fine automobiles and motorcycles in a garden party setting on the rolling greens of Quail Lodge & Golf  club . During the day the  temperature is warm and can reach 90 degrees. Conditions tend to grow very cold near 50 degrees towards the end of the day. So layering  should be considered in any attire. The majority of the events are out doors and many are on grass surface. Therefore I wore  the Chanel wedge leather boots to keep from sinking into the grass.

Comfort doesn’t equal sloppy. A day off from heels or from other formal situations doesn’t have to mean a day off from style. I’m the biggest champion of being comfortable in clothes, and I don’t just mean psychologically. Comfort has to come physically , too .
