Outside of the official show calender-since 2002 Karl Lagerfeld has been creating a ready-to wear- collection entitled the Metiersd’ Art collection, shown every year in the month of December.

As a true demonstration of exceptional know-how, this collection highlights the work of artisans including costume jewelry and button maker Desrues, feather and flower maker Lemarie, hat maker Maison Michel, shoe maker Massaro and embroiderers Lesage and Montex.

Couture isn’t necessarily in the cards for the majority of us, but pushing the envelope in terms of quality and skill is possible. The Metiersd’ Art collection offers this opportunity to experience couture at its best and own  a piece of the fantasy  and Chanel history that Karl Lagerfeld revisits every  year. Inspired by the multiple links woven between Chanel and the Chosen city, Karl Lagerfeld celebrates the virtuosity of the above ateliers and their specialized know-how.

The artisans skillfully interpret Karl Lagefeld’s sketches season after season with the utmost attention. “It’s made in an artisan way, in the very best sense of the word, because in artisan there is “art” . The art of doing things well. An applied art. And that is truly wonderful. I think the image of this collection is reflected through this finesse which has to be seen up close, almost touched, to understand how it is done and to really appreciate the beauty of this work” Karl Lagerfeld explains .
