A bag can make an out fit . It can just as easily break it too.

The most simple outfits can be upgraded with a fabulous bag that makes a bold statement.

A woman who carries something dripping with bohemian chic accents, say copper disks and tassels on a soft, oversized hobo bag, is showing a more relaxed side. She who totes a very structured, classic Birkin demands to be taken a bit more seriously. The gal with the latest  it bag is exposing a weakness for all things trendy( not that there’s  anything wrong with that, speaking from personal experience myself!) . A nondescript black bag can indicate that the owner is not much of a risk taker.

So what does your bag say about you? For me the bolder the bag the better. I love a statement bag.

If it is an  investment piece you are splurging on, do not buy the it bag of the season no matter how gorgeous, resist. You’re better off blowing your savings on something classic, even vintage, that will withstand time and trends. A  structured black or brown bag, something in a Kelly or Birkin shape, can compliment a wardrobe from year to year.

A louis Vuitton barrel bag like this one or a comparable leather style by another maker, never goes out of style.

It’s somewhat impossible to gauge whether an it bag is going to become  a classic or not. Time will tell. But there are clues that can help you know whether to buy or pass, and the biggest is your bank balance (trust me speaking from personal experience!)
